Momentum is a lovely calm new-tab page — but it's not for everyone. If you want more tools, fewer paywalls, or a different vibe, here are the seven best alternatives, and exactly who each one suits.
Momentum's free tier gives you a photo, a greeting and one daily focus; most of the useful extras (to-dos, integrations, custom links) sit behind the Plus subscription — a recurring fee. These alternatives take different approaches to the same job — the page you open dozens of times a day.

Product facts on this site: no account required, optional cloud sync, shortcut zones, Google News RSS, a markets ticker, up to 7 dock widgets on Free and 14 on Pro, and a Chrome new-tab extension that opens https://www.dayblaster.com/. Momentum’s official homepage does not list a news feed or a stock-index ticker. Momentum’s FAQ says you can stay logged out. Dayblaster’s free site needs no signup.
2. Tabliss Minimalist
A free, open-source new-tab extension with beautiful backgrounds and a handful of small widgets. Choose Tabliss if you want calm and pretty with zero clutter — but don't expect news, markets or shortcut zones.

3. Bonjourr Apple-style minimal
Free and open-source with a refined, iOS-flavored look — clock, weather, quick links. Great for people who want "almost nothing," done tastefully.
Official Bonjourr pages list a free, no-account extension, donations instead of a paid SKU, open source, and https://online.bonjourr.fr. The Safari App Store app is discontinued since May 2026. News and markets are not listed. Dayblaster vs Bonjourr.
4. start.me Power bookmark manager
The veteran. Pages, columns, RSS feeds and widgets — hugely flexible, but it takes setup and can feel dense. Best for heavy bookmark collectors and researchers. Dayblaster vs start.me.
Official start.me pages describe a visual start page and bookmark manager. The first how-it-works step is Create free account. Personal PRO is $25 per year. Free includes advertising and a maximum of 3 start pages. Stock Quotes is listed as a Personal PRO widget, not as a default ticker.
5. Infinity New Tab Icon grid + sync
A feature-rich icon-grid new tab with cloud sync and to-dos. Powerful, though the interface leans busy and the best parts sit behind a login and premium tier.
The Chrome Web Store listing for Infinity New Tab (Pro), version 11.0.41, updated 7 July 2026, says the extension only overrides the New Tab page. Listed features: speed dial shortcuts, bookmarks and top sites, wallpapers, weather, to-do, notes, optional Gmail badge, and optional sync after sign-in. A dollar price is not on that listing or on the official Infinity pages we read. We did not copy prices from third-party reviews.
6. Toby Tab & session manager
Less a pretty dashboard, more a way to organize tabs into collections. Ideal if your real problem is 40 open tabs rather than an empty new tab.
The Chrome Web Store listing for Toby: Tab Manager and Session Saver (Launch Labs INC, version 2.0.0.11, updated 2 October 2026) describes saving a window as a session, collections in spaces, and restore on any signed-in device. It states Toby never reads the pages you visit and only sees titles, addresses, and icons of tabs you choose to save. The listing offers in-app purchases. 7. Your browser's built-in new tab Zero install
Don't overlook it — Brave, Edge and Vivaldi all have configurable built-in new-tab dashboards. If you want something with no extension at all, tidy up the one you already have.
