Where they differ
Bonjourr describes itself as a minimalist, Apple-inspired startpage that replaces the new tab. Its listed focus is design, dynamic backgrounds, privacy and optional widgets such as quick links, notes, weather and a pomodoro timer. It does not list a news feed or a stock-index ticker on its official site.
Dayblaster is a browser start page with shortcut zones, a news bar and a markets bar already in the default layout. It can be set as a homepage in the browsers covered by the site’s homepage guide, and the product includes a Chrome new-tab extension. An account is optional.
The official Bonjourr homepage calls the product a minimalist and lightweight startpage. It says Bonjourr replaces the new tab with something more refined and minimal, and that the design takes inspiration from Apple. Dynamic backgrounds use a curated Unsplash collection whose mood changes with the time of day. The feature list on that page includes Quick Links, a search bar, custom fonts, multilanguage, pomodoro, dark mode, notes and checkboxes, quotes, custom CSS, and no generative AI. The page states the product is open source and privacy focused, created by two independent developers, and that you can start without creating or logging into an account because they do not want to collect personal data. Donations are listed as the way the project stays running. No paid product price is listed.
Official docs (last updated 7 October 2026 on the page we read) list Chrome, Brave, an online version at https://online.bonjourr.fr, and Firefox-family installs. The Safari App Store app is discontinued since May 2026. Docs also describe setting Safari homepage and new windows or new tabs to that online URL. Opera is listed as a browser that does not allow extensions to modify its new tab, with a workaround that uses the online version. We treat those as Bonjourr’s own install notes, not as Opera’s official help.
Pricing, accounts, and default job
Bonjourr asks for donations. The official site does not list a Pro SKU. The Chrome Web Store listing (checked October 2026) names weather, quotes, 43 languages, and no account. The Firefox Add-ons listing states GNU GPL v3.0 only. Dayblaster pricing on this site is free, or $10 one time for Pro. Pro is not a subscription. The free Dayblaster page may show ads. Pro removes ad banners, raises the widget dock from 7 to 14, and adds Pro backgrounds and page profiles. Those Dayblaster facts come from this site’s facts and pricing pages.
Default job is the other split. Bonjourr opens as a photo, clock, and optional widgets. Dayblaster opens as grouped shortcuts, a news ticker from Google News RSS, and a markets ticker of major indices and currency pairs. Both can be used without an account. Dayblaster adds an optional free account for cloud sync and the last 30 saved versions. Bonjourr’s official site does not list an account product.
Choose Bonjourr if
You want a free, no-account new tab built around photos, a clock and a small set of widgets, and you prefer an open-source extension you can install from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons.
Choose Dayblaster if
You want shortcuts, headlines and market indices on the first page of the day, with a free tier and a one time $10 Pro option instead of a donation-only model.
Both can sit on a new tab if you install the matching extension. Bonjourr is sold as that extension, plus the online URL. Dayblaster is a website first. The Chrome extension in this product only overrides the new-tab page and opens https://www.dayblaster.com/. This repository does not list a Firefox or Safari Dayblaster add-on. A news headline feed and a markets ticker remain not listed on Bonjourr’s official site.
