Where they differ
Tabliss is a New Tab page you customise: backgrounds, widgets and layout. Its official feature list covers weather, quotes, todos, quick links and similar widgets. It does not list a general news headline feed or a stock-market ticker.
Dayblaster ships a fixed dashboard layout with shortcut zones, news and markets already present. Customisation is there (shortcuts, widgets, backgrounds), but the page is meant to be usable on first open. Pricing is free with an optional one time Pro purchase.
The official Tabliss homepage calls the product a beautiful, customisable New Tab page for Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. It lists deep customisation, tonnes of widgets, and backgrounds from Unsplash and GIPHY, plus solid colours, gradients, or your own pictures. The same page states Tabliss is 100% free, with no ads, no subscriptions, and no data mining, and that it is open source and built by volunteers. It also states translations for over 40 languages.
The official about page adds that Tabliss is a free web extension, private and fast, and a free alternative to expensive extensions like Momentum. It lists settings sync between devices, no permissions, and a widget set that includes analogue or digital clocks, greetings, weather, quotes, a todo list, quick notes, quick links, a search box with Google and DuckDuckGo, work hours, live NBA scores, a GitHub contributions calendar, IP information, and custom CSS. Those are the widgets we treat as current. A general news headline row and a stock or index ticker are still not listed there.
Pricing, accounts, and what ships first
Tabliss does not publish a paid SKU on the pages we checked. The official site repeats that there are no paywalls. An account is not listed as required. Settings sync is listed on the about page, without a signup form on the homepage. Dayblaster pricing on this site is free, or $10 one time for Pro. Pro is not a subscription. The free Dayblaster page may show ads. Pro removes ad banners and raises the widget dock from 7 to 14. An account is optional. Without one, settings stay in the browser. With one, cloud sync and version history are available. Those Dayblaster facts come from this site’s facts and pricing pages.
First open is the other split. Tabliss is a canvas you assemble: pick a background, then switch widgets on. Dayblaster opens with My Work Zone, My Fun Zone, AI Tools, a Google apps row, a news ticker from Google News RSS, and a markets ticker of major indices and currency pairs. You can edit every shortcut. You do not have to build a news or markets row from scratch.
Choose Tabliss if
You want a free, ad-free new-tab canvas, you like choosing backgrounds and widgets yourself, and you use Chrome, Firefox or Edge extensions.
Choose Dayblaster if
You want news and market indices next to your shortcuts without assembling that layout, and you are fine with a homepage URL plus an optional Chrome new-tab extension.
Both can sit on a new tab if you install the matching extension. Tabliss is sold as that extension, with an official web version as well. Dayblaster is a website first. The Chrome extension in this product only overrides the new-tab page and opens https://www.dayblaster.com/. The site’s homepage guide covers setting that URL as a homepage in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Brave, and Opera. A Tabliss homepage URL for Safari is not listed on the official pages we read.
